Cynthia Baxter

Cynthia Baxter is the author of the Lickety Splits Ice Cream Shoppe mystery series (published by Kensington), which features amateur sleuth Kate McKay and her ice cream shop in New York’s scenic Hudson Valley.

She is also the author of two other mystery series (published by Bantam).  Her nine-book Reigning Cats & Dogs mystery series, which features Long Island veterinarian Jessica Popper, includes Dead Canaries Don’t Sing and Putting On the Dog.

Her Murder Packs a Suitcase mystery series, featuring travel writer Mallory Marlowe, includes Murder Packs a Suitcase, set in Orlando, Florida, and Too Rich and Too Dead, set in Aspen, Colorado.

Writing as Cynthia Blair, she has written 40 other novels, including contemporary women’s fiction and young-adult novels. Her young-adult books include a series about a pair of identical twins. The first book in the series is The Banana Split Affair.

Cynthia has worked as a travel writer, which took her to such exotic destinations as Tahiti, Brazil, and several Caribbean islands. She has taught creative writing at Hofstra University on Long Island and given fiction writing workshops at the Cape Cod Writers Workshop.

In her spare time, she enjoys making modern art quilts and fabric jewelry. She is passionate about traveling, reading, and of course ice cream. Her favorite flavors are peach, coconut, and chocolate hazelnut.
